Therapy for ADHD & Neurodivergence

Your brain isn’t broken. It runs on a different operating system.

Whether you’ve been diagnosed for years or are starting to wonder, therapy + structure + (sometimes) medication can change the daily experience of being you.

Adult ADHD is significantly under-diagnosed in India, especially in women — many adults reach diagnosis in their 30s or 40s after years of misattribution.

Does this sound like you?

The everyday voice of adhd & neurodivergence.

Read these slowly. If two or more land, you are not alone — and you are not broken.

I’m smart and I cannot make my brain do the basics.

I lose hours to one tab and miss the actual deadline.

I’ve masked for so long I don’t know what’s real.

My emotions hit harder than they hit other people.

I’m exhausted from compensating.

I don’t know if I have ADHD or autism — or both.

A clearer picture

What adhd & neurodivergence actually is

ADHD and autism are neurodevelopmental — the brain is wired differently from birth. They are not character problems, willpower problems, or modern-life problems. Adults often reach Sagemitra after a lifetime of being told they could "just try harder," only to discover their effort is two or three times what their peers spend on the same task.

Therapy here is not "treatment to make you neurotypical." It is structure, compassion, and skills that work with your wiring instead of against it. Where helpful, we coordinate with a psychiatrist for medication. We do not diagnose ADHD or autism in a single session — formal assessment is a separate, longer process.

Clinical reference

Maps to ADHD (DSM-5 314.0x) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (DSM-5 299.00). Diagnosis is best done by a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist with neurodevelopmental specialisation.

The shape of the work

Specific sub-areas we work with

ADHD & Neurodivergence shows up in a number of recognisable patterns. Therapists who work with this concern are familiar with each of these.

  • Adult ADHD
  • Childhood ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum
  • Executive Function
  • Focus & Memory

The work itself

How therapy actually helps

An ADHD-aware therapist starts with what is actually happening in your week — not abstract strategies. The work is concrete: schedules, externalised reminders, scaffolding, and the emotional fallout of a lifetime of compensating.

Approaches that work

CBT for ADHD

Specific protocols (Safren, Ramsay) for executive function, time management, and the negative self-beliefs adult ADHD builds up.

Coaching-blended therapy

For the day-to-day systems and accountability work that traditional therapy doesn’t cover.

Emotion-regulation work (DBT-informed)

For the rejection sensitivity and emotional intensity that often come with ADHD.

Neurodivergent-affirmative therapy

Frames difference as different, not deficient. Especially important for late-diagnosis adults processing identity questions.

What changes

  • You stop blaming yourself for executive-function issues
  • You build 1 to 3 external systems that actually hold
  • Emotional intensity becomes predictable and survivable
  • You make peace with what your brain costs and what it gives
  • Coordination with psychiatry, if useful, is set up
  • You stop masking in places where masking has been costing you

Outcomes are typical, not guaranteed. Your therapist will set honest expectations in your first session.

While you wait

Therapy isn’t the only way in. These work alongside it — or before you’re ready for it.
